Team to Open Season in Peoria Saturday, October 6th

Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced today that the team will open their 2007-08 season on Saturday, October 6th at 7:00 pm in Peoria against the Rivermen. The team will open the home portion of their schedule on Friday, October 12th at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center against the Quad City Flames. The Admirals will play an 80-game, unbalanced schedule that will conclude over six months later when the team travels to Houston on April 13th.

“The 2007-08 season promises to be another exciting year for us, both on and off the ice,” noted Greenberg, who begins his third season as the Ads President. “With all of the fun and entertaining promotions and an exciting team on the ice, we will continue to provide our fans with a fantastic experience when they visit the Bradley Center.”

The Admirals will face a pair of new teams during their 2007-08 campaign, both of whom are in their own division: the Quad City Flames and the Rockford IceHogs. Both teams make the move to the AHL after competing in the UHL in recent years. The Flames will be the primary affiliate of the Calgary Flames, while the IceHogs will develop talent for the Chicago Blackhawks. In addition the Admirals will face the Manchester Monarchs for the first time ever.

February will be the busiest month of the season for the Admirals as the team will play 16 games, including a leap-year special February 29th contest against the Providence Bruins at the Bradley Center. Out of those 16 contests, half (8) will be at home and half will be on the road.

Admirals Unveil New Logo
New Jerseys and Color Scheme Come as Well

The Milwaukee Admirals unveiled their new logo, home and road jerseys, and a new color scheme featuring black, silver, and ice blue today at a party at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino Stage on the Summerfest Grounds.

“We are extremely excited to reveal our new look,” said Admirals Owner and CEO Harris Turer. “This is a new era for the Milwaukee Admirals and we want to start it off in a tremendous way.”

The logo features an Admiral of a ghost ship with the tag line, “Never Say Die.” The logo and slogan come with quite an interesting story that traces the origin of the new logo, which, as it turns out isn’t new at all.

The Ads new logo is actually an aged version of the team’s logo from the late 1970’s, a short young lad, who was lost in the waters of Lake Michigan back after the 1981 season and was recently found. The only thing that managed to keep him alive all these years was his fighting spirit. In fact, after one of his legs fell off, he used it as a hockey stick to hone his skills.

After over 25 years of being underwater, the red white and blue uniform had faded to the black, silver and ice blue, and had turned his fresh young face into a skull. Never Say Die!
